How Rentvesting Can Help Your Property Investment Goals

If you have been looking to take your property investment to the next level, then rentvesting may just be the best direction to take. In short, rentvesting is choosing to live as tenants instead of homeowners while you continue to invest in other properties. It is an approach that isn’t for everyone, but can certainly unlock success for certain investors depending on their situation.

At Property Club, we mentor our members towards finding the path that works best for them and their needs. Rentvesting may just be the answer you have been looking for. In this article, we will explain in further detail how this approach can be beneficial to property investors, and how it has specifically helped some of our members take the next step in their investment journey.

    What is Rentvesting?

Rentvesting is when a property investor chooses to rent where they live instead of buying their own home. This allows them to save money that goes towards buying an investment property that they may not have otherwise been able to afford. This approach has become increasingly popular in Australia’s capital cities, where it is getting more and more difficult to break into the investment market while also being a homeowner.

Choosing rentvesting means choosing greater flexibility with your finances. Paying rent is typically cheaper than paying a mortgage which allows you to invest more into your savings and future additions to your investment portfolio.

Of course, rentvesting isn’t for everyone and it’s important you conduct thorough research on the pros and cons before you decide on this lifestyle. However, if you feel as though you have come up against a brick wall in your property investment plans, then going down this path can certainly lead to future rewards that were otherwise unobtainable.

How Rentvesting Has Helped Our Members

This is the member story of Nic and Robyn Thiele, and how becoming rentvesters enabled them to find success as property investors.

Originally, Nic and Robyn owned a family house and an investment property, but were interested in building out their investment portfolio. They were already members of Property Club at this point, and after consulting with their mentor, they made the decision to sell their home and switch over to becoming tenants themselves.

They ended up buying a townhouse in Brisbane that was still under construction. While the price of the property was on the higher end and the building process took longer than they expected, the location was great and they were able to capitalise on the strong demand for townhouses in the city. By the time the building was completed, they already had their first tenants ready to move in – meaning zero vacancies and instant revenue for them.

Nic and Robyn were able to use their own intuition and the advice given to them by Property Club to open up new possibilities for their future as investors. While it couldn’t have been easy to give up their family home, switching over to rentvesting allowed them to accomplish new dreams and take the next steps in their property journey.
